      Artistic abilities are really useful in science, e.g. in designing posters and presentations for conferences, in designing brochures and information packs for students, and also just in terms of knowing how to really look at things and how to transfer the important information to a page. I’ve had to draw hundreds – if not thousands – of fossils and so being handy with a pencil has come in useful.

      Being artistic is very useful, as it helps make figures which are pictures that communicate research.
      Also, being artistic could also include being able to make videos to show your research:
