      It comes from the same reason why some people are born with blond, brown, or ginger hair!

      The color characteristics come from pigments in the genes. Plants, like people, carry certain pigments in their genes that decide before they are “born” what color they will be.

      Many flowers have been selected by insects for specific colours, i.e. reds and yellows attract different insects. Bear in mind that many flowers don’t look the same to insects as they do to us. Plants often have striking UV markings that help guide insects to the nectaries where they can feed.
