• Question: Do you think the world will ever come to an end because I heard that in 17 years Galway will be completley covered in water and if you think about it then Ireland will eventually be covered and then Europe but do you think that's possible and if so how long will it take???

If we don’t stop global warming or not take necessary steps for that then unfortunately yes the water level will rise because of the melting of snow in both the poles and other places. It’s very hard to guess but we can hope that no such thing will happen and scientists and people will come with some solution of this. It’s an important issue and we should not take this very easily.

Current climate change models currently indicate a rise in global sea level of just over 1 m by 2100 in a ‘high emission’ scenario, where CO2 emissions are not drastically reduced relative to today. This isn’t enough to cover Galway city by the sea but it is enough to cause huge difficulties for some island nations in the Pacific and for seawall defences for low-lying cities and towns all over the world.
