This is a really good question – the jobs will definitively change a lot in the future!

Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are already here and are taking care of a lot of banal and repetitive tasks. Robots are used in a lot of factories to perform tasks that are too boring or too dangerous for a human to perform. They have changed the type of jobs that people have in some factories: for example, instead of packing toothbrushes into carton boxes all day, you would be in charge of making sure that the robot does it well – so you would do something more rewarding and less strenuous on your muscles.

Robots are really good at doing the same thing over and over again, in a fast and precise manner. However, we humans have major qualities that robots do not have: we are able to make complex decisions, we can react quickly to any unforeseen events, we are very dexterous, we can do more than what is asked of us, we have emotions, innovative spirit and a lot of creativity!

So my personal opinion is that in the future, most of the jobs that people don’t want to do will be indeed done by robot instead. But all the jobs that require creativity, emotion, and innovation, will always be done by humans.
I also believe that the robots will be used more and more as assistants to the humans! Combining the robot’s capabilities and our intelligence & creativity, we can achieve a lot of things.

Talking about robot surgeon, check out the Da Vinci robot on the internet! It is a robot that is controlled by a human surgeon. It performs the same actions that the surgeon performs in simulation booth. The robot is really precise and has always a steady hand and the surgeon can make all the decisions – that’s a perfect partnership!

So to really answer your question, I believe Robotics and Artificial Intelligence will become more and more part of our jobs but the humans will always have some jobs to do -especially if they require skills such as emotions, creativity, innovation, or complex decision-making.

Hi, I think there are lots of potential directions in which humans and technology could evolve into the future. One possibility is that robots do most jobs, but I don’t see this as very likely. Humans are fundamentally social creatures and we like to live in groups; we need social interaction, we need to talk to each other, and find it fulfilling and rewarding. It’s hard to imagine a future without all of that. Also it’s hard to imagine a future where robots can respond to, and with, all the nuances of human conversation. So I have quite a humanistic outlook for the future and I would say no, that humans won’t be usurped by robots in the future.
