I have been very luck to travel a good deal with work.
I worked in Germany and New York for about 9 years. I have also given science talks all over the world.

I went to Canada and did research there. I went in few conferences in India. I went to Dublin in Dublin Maker event to demonstrate general science to kids and general public.

Definitely! I lived in the USA for three years and then the UK before moving back to Ireland. As well as living in other countries, I’ve done fieldwork in the USA, Spain, and China, and I’ve travelled all around the world to study fossils held in museum collections – places as far away as Beijing, Siberia and Canada and also places closer to home – all around Europe (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Belgium, UK…). I also do chemical analyses on fossils at a major particle accelerator facility in California so I get to go there about three times a year.
It all sounds very glamorous but it’s really hard work and a lot of planning goes into all of these trips. Plus they cost a lot of money, which has to come from research grants. This basically involves writing long letters to government agencies as part of competitions for money. But in the end I feel very lucky to get to see so much of the world. I do feel guilty about the carbon emissions so we planted nearly 200 trees here at home!

Yes and I love it!
I went to robotics conferences all across Europe – even all the way up north in Finland!
I am also part of a project with team members that are located in 26 different countries so I get to travel to a lot of different research centers in various countries.
Next stop: Austria in January!
