To be honest every fossil you find in the field is ‘cool’! It doesn’t matter if it’s a leaf, or a bone, or an insect, every single fossil you find yourself feels like a real discovery. My favourite fossils that I’ve found myself are probably my coloured fossil beetles – they are bright blue! The blue colour is produced by tiny nanostructures in the beetles’ outer shell that scatter visible light – which in itself is amazing.

I work on fossil soft tissues (things like skin, muscles, organs) so I’ve been lucky to see some pretty amazing fossils. I’ve worked on dinosaur skin, dinosaur dandruff, fossil bone marrow, fossil muscle, fossil frog skin, fossil snake skin – lots of fun stuff!
